So tell me a little bit about yourself, what have you been up to the past 12 months?
We’ve been having a slow rebuild. We had to split with bad management, a new drummer
joined. We thought we’d chuck out a new EP to give you all a taste of album 3. We were
basically just recovering from the brutality of the music industry haha.
So you've just released your EP 'Cracked' would you say the writing process has changed and developed since your earlier stuff?
It’s probably a bit different but by and large it’s still the same. I have the bulk of the tune and
lyrics and then it’s brought into the band and we tweak it as and when. It seems to work so I’ll
just keep at it.
What was the inspiration behind the EP?
Cracked and Black and Blue is by and large about trauma, generational trauma, depression,
anxiety, addiction, anger and rage and how it manifests - can you control it? The generational
trauma element came from my cousin and I have started writing a TV show about my family in the East End and the chaos of my dad being brought up essentially by an armed robber.
Loose is about alcohol and substance abuse and people that convince themselves they have
found a balance (me included)
Leader for Now is just me being absolutely sick to the back teeth of this fucking cunt grifting
podcasters and now fucking religion is being dipped back into this bullshit? Tate pushes Islam and there’s an absolutely huge fucking surge of horrible Christian Nationalism in Europe, US and UK. I just can’t stand it. It seems like there’s always a group of people defending and propagating some sort of religious nationalism. Just be done with all of it. I am channelling my inner edgy atheist but honestly I think more voices - especially those who have woken up from these ideologies need to be given a voice. It was written before October 7th but you can definitely apply it to the ideologies of Hamas, Netanyahu and the absolute batshit settlers as
well.
To someone who hasn't heard the EP yet, how would you describe it?
Melodic hardcore indie.
If 'Cracked' could soundtrack any film or TV show, which one would you choose?
True Detective Season 1.
If any artist, dead or alive, could collaborate on 'Cracked' who would you choose?
Chris Cornell.
So obviously you guys are playing A Stones Throw Festival in North Shields this Sunday, is
there a particular song that you're most excited to play?
Cracked hahahaha
Do you guys have any pre gig rituals?
I just normally like not talking to anyone or moving or pissing loads (which is a nervous thing
haha)
So you guys have a few festivals coming up but what do you guys have planned for the rest of the year, what's next for you guys as a band?
Finish album 3.
