“Wear protection. Bring earplugs.”
When a band comes with their own ominous warning sign, it confirms that gnawing
gut feeling: you’ve stumbled upon a rare bloom in your local music scene.
The self-proclaimed “noisy, northeast, alternative, shoegaze” Sunderland fourpiece
Spacecadetbloom debut their ethereal, hypnotic dreamscape sound in upcoming
single, Why Would I Lie?
Flawlessly encapsulating that nostalgic, stomach-churning turn of the season birthed
by the likes of Deftones, Cocteau Twins and The Smashing Pumpkins,
Spacecadetbloom craft a rich, velvety guitar fuzz stitched permanently into the fabric
of the track- true to the alluring, broody signature of distortion- drenched dream rock.
Its tender, silken veil of soft, melancholic tones are quickly pierced by haunting,
elegant vocals which dissolve effortlessly into the swirling, hazy guitar. Why Would I
Lie? metamorphoses into a nocturnal serenade dripping with an anguish found only
in the remains of a love longed for and lost.
Explosive, energetic drums embolden these emotionally charged lyrics, proving the
initial warning penned by the quartet should be rightly disobeyed. This is a band with
a vibrant edge to their sound, and this track should be experienced just as their raw,
gritty sonic fingerprint calls for- boldly, loudly and passionately.
Why Would I Lie? anticipates release on 24th October, but you can be the first
to catch the region’s latest talent quickly gathering momentum live at
GeetCannyMusic’s Three Tanners Bank gig on 4th October 2024.
